Diamond Platnumz ends ‘beef’ with Mico The Best ahead of Kigali gig

Diamond Platnumz’s feud with Mico The Best, which has lasted for several years, has come to an end after the Tanzanian Bango Flava star agreed to pay all the debts he owed Rwandan singer Mico The Best.

Wasafi’s management approached Mico The Best in August, a few days before the label owner travels to Kigali to headline the opening concert of the Giants of Africa Summit scheduled for August 13.

On August 9, Diamond’s advisor Babu Tale arrived in Kigali to hold several talks with the Rwandan artiste in a bid to end the longstanding feud between the once close musicians.

when Babu Tale met Mico The Best in Kigali, both parties agreed to resolve the feud peacefully without involving their legal representatives.

“Mico The Best tried to resolve the issue so that he could get his money back and Diamond could return to Kigali without fear of being arrested. The meeting ended with both parties shaking hands and that was the end of their long feud,” a source told The New Times.

Mico The Best also released a statement revealing that the tension between both artistes has come to an end after 10 years of fighting.

“As you may know, there has been a period of cold tension between me, Mico The Best, and the Tanzanian artiste, Diamond Platnumz. However, I’m thrilled to announce that we have decided to put our differences aside and focus on the incredible possibilities that arise from unity rather than conflicts,” reads the statement issued on Friday, 11 August.

In the statement, The ‘Igare’ hit maker also thanked different parties that contributed to the reunion of both artistes including the Government of Rwanda, Embassy of Tanzania, Noopja, Irene Abayisabe among many others.

Although it is not known exactly how much money Mico The Best was paid, there are reports that he was refunded seven million Rwandan francs, which is the same money he gave the Tanzanian star in 2013, to headline his album launch in Kigali but never showed up.

There are also other reports that Babu Tale was in Kigali to see how Mico would withdraw the lawsuit he filed against Diamond so that they could see together how to pay him the money without the interest of 10 million Rwandan francs as he had sued.

It was in December 2022 that news of Diamond’s accusations resurfaced in the media after Mico The Best filed a complaint to Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB)

The Tanzanian star was also supposed to headline One People Concert on December 22, 2022, in Kigali, but didn’t attend due to the problems he had with the Rwandan artiste.

Superstar Nasibu Abdul Juma Issack, best known as Diamond Platnumz, remains one of the most richest and successful musicians on the continent.

He last staged in Rwanda on August 27, 2019, during the closing of the first edition of Iwacu Muzika Festival.
