Eswatini Defence Principal Secretary and Army Chief visit RDF Headquarters

On, 18 August 2023 the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of National Defence and Security of the Kingdom of Eswatini, His Royal Highness Prince Sicalo Dlamini and the Commander of Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF), General Mashikilisana Fakudze were received at the RDF HQs by RDF Chief of Defence Staff, Lt General Mubarakh Muganga.

They also paid a courtesy call on the Hon Minister of Defence of Republic of Rwanda Mr Juvénal Marizamunda before receiving presentations on RDF’s transformation journey and regional security dynamics.

Talking to the media after the meeting, His Royal Highness Prince Sicalo said that their visit aims at strengthening the relations between the Kingdom of Eswatini and Rwanda, adding that the two militaries want to share experiences.

“We look forward to strengthening relations. We hope to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on technical cooperation in the military sphere,” said HRH Prince Sicalo.

During their visit, HRH Prince Sicalo Dlamini and the Commander of UEDF, General Mashikilisana Fakudze also paid homage to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial site.

His Royal Highness Prince Sicalo and Gen Mashikilisana are in Rwanda for a four days official visit from 16 to 20 August 2023.
