A 23-year-old identified as Ntakirutimana Patrice, a resident of Huye district, Ruhashya Sector, Mara cell has ended his own life after consuming the insecticide substance known as “Roket” which is commonly used to kill infamous “Nkongwa” bugs.
The deceased passed away on 13th August 2023, from Butare University hospital (CHUB).
Mutabaruka Jean Baptiste the leader of Ruhashya sector speaking to Bwiza about the deceased’s situation, said that he didn’t have much information about it as he heard of the news in the following morning but the father of the late Sindayigaya Bernard said that he was called by the victim’s little brother telling him that his brother taken the insecticide.
The father who said he had attended the neighbors religious celebrations, after receiving the chilling call from his son, explained that:
“after hearing about it, I rushed there and found that he has indeed taken the poisonous substance. I gave him milk, and when it didn’t work I looked for motorcyclists to take him to Ruhashya at the Hospital”
Upon arriving at the hospital, the victim was rushed again to CHUB where he unfortunately passed away
The father of the deceased said that Last Saturday his late son spent the day with friends and bought then beers, and on the same day is when he sent someone to but him the Roket insecticide for 500 Frw.
The family of the deceased says that they don’t know why he took the decision to end his life as there was no known mental disorder/illness record on him.
The late leaves no kids.
