Kidum, B2C and Confy revive Jazz vibes
It was a great and fun-filled night for revelers who attended the long-awaited Kigali Jazz Junction at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (KCEV). From performances by Rwandan Afro Pop star Confy to Uganda’s boy band B2C and Burundi’s legend Kidum, each performance was epic and uniquely represented the artiste’s ability on stage.
The show kicked off a bit later than the expected time as they waited for the audience to increase in number. Meanwhile, Shauku Band warmed up revellers for what was coming next as comedian Michael Sengazi did a great job as the mcee for the night.
Afro Pop star Confy coming up on stage in his hit song ‘Pole Pole’ got him cheers as he sang the song with his fans who seemed to have memorized word after word of the lyrics. He paused after singing to engage with the audience, asking them how they were doing and if they were ready for a good time. He gave a satisfying performance for his likeable songs like ‘Kloza’, ‘Jowana’, ‘Panga’, ‘Mali’ and ‘Igikwe’.
Kampala Boyz, commonly known as B2C all dressed in full black brought smiles to many faces who couldn’t keep calm the moment the band stepped on stage. They delivered an outstanding performance with so much energy which kept revellers entertained and vibing to their good music for the entire performance.
Their great energy during the performances significantly proves how talented live performers they are. The band sang some of their top hits that made charts in Rwanda like ‘No You No Life’, ‘Gutamiza’, ‘ Obulungi Bunuma’, ‘Curvy Neighbour’, ‘Kiss You’, ‘Gutujja’ and ‘Munda Awo’.
Kidum, real name Jean-Pierre Nimbona, graced the stage of Kigali Jazz Junction and he did not disappoint fans who were longing to see him perform as the last performer of the night. He had not perfomed in Rwanda for almost four years now and this stage meant alot to him and his fans who had missed him.
The sensational legendary singer was shown love by the crowd as they could easily recognise the songs which most of them reminded revellers of memories of the past when the songs were released. He incredibly gave everything to Kigalians and they were there for it.
He performed songs like ‘Intimba y’Urukundo’, ‘ Pokea Sifa’, ‘ Amasozi y’Urukundo’, ‘ Mbwira’, ‘ Haturudi Nyuma’ and ‘Tucheze Rhumba’ among others. He couldn’t hide his excitement and added 20 more minutes on stage but still revellers who included Burundians still yearned for more.
The previous edition took place on June 6, last year after a two-year break due to the pandemic. It featured French Zouk guru Patrice Sylveste better known as Slai, alongside Uganda-based Rwandan female artiste Lilian Mbabazi.
KJJ has been attracting renowned names in the entertainment industry across Africa since its inception. It has become a prominent fixture, not only for local music lovers but also members of corporate and diplomatic circles.
