Top 10 Arsenal greatest players of all times

Since its foundation in 1886, Arsenal has been one of the most successful football clubs in the history of football in England and Europe.

The North London giants have won 13 league titles, 14 FA cups and 2 league cups. During this period,  Arsenal has seen many players come and go. In this video, we will take a look at the top 10 Arsenal players of all time.

For a club of Arsenal’s structure , obviously , thousands of players have represented the North London Side so selecting just ten of the Cream Dela Cream was never going to be an easy task.

So We considered a player’s contribution to the club’s success, including winning titles and individual awards, skills and technical ability, leadership and the impact of the player on the team. Finally,we also factored in the longevity and consistency of the player during his time at the club.

Number 10. Cliff Bastin

Cliff Sydeny Bastin is one of the greatest attacking wingers in Arsenal’s history.

The British played for Arsenal from April 1929 to 1947, netting 178 times in 396 appearances.

He is one of the sensational talents signed by Ex Arsenal Manager the late Herbert Chapman. Chapman had been impressed by Bastin’s performances for Exeter during the 1928-29 campaign so he decided to sign him at the end of the season.

Having signed for Arsenal at just 17 years of age, Bastin had won an FA CUP & League title by the time he turned nineteen and he had already been capped by England making him the youngest  player ever to have all three.

Bastin is the club’s third-highest goal scorer of all time. The winger won five league titles and two FA Cups during his time with the Gunners. His pace, game reading and finishing ability made him a true legend who will never leave the hearts of the club’s fans.

Number 9. Charlie George

Fredrick Charles George Or Charlie George as he is widely called  is one of the greatest Arsenal midfielders ever since the club’s creation.

The Englishman played for the club from 1966 to 1975, a stint of 11 years where he scored  49 goals in 179 appearances. He is one of the few on this list who started their careers at Arsenal and went on to become real legends of the sport.

Even with his catastrophic injury record and behavioural issues, Charlie Geaoge established himself as a monster footballer and his versatility added unpredictability to the side.

Despite the fact that he did not register a massive number of goals, his goal against Liverpool in the FA Cup final of 1971 is his  greatest career highlight. Deep into extra-time, with the scores locked at 1-1, Charlie  sent a thunderous 20-yard drive beyond the reach of Ray Clemence in the Liverpool goal. It sealed a first ‘Double’ for Arsenal.

George won one league title and one FA Cup during his time with the Gunners. His technical ability made him a true legend and fan favourite at the North London-based club.

Number 8. Robert Pires

Robert Pires is arguably the greatest Gunners winger to grace the pitch since the birth of the club. The Frenchman played for Arsenal from 2000 to 2006, winning two league titles and two FA Cups. During his spell with the North London club, he was a key member of the 2003/04 Invincibles squad that completed a full season unbeaten.

Pires’ technical ability and vision on the left wing and sometimes in the attacking midfield made him a key component of Arsenal’s success in the early 2000s.

He secured 85 goals and 60 assists in 284 matches with the Gunners.

Number 7. David Seaman

David Seaman is one of the greatest goalkeepers in Arsenal’s history as well as in the world of football. If not the very best.

The Englishman played for Arsenal from 1990 to 2003, helping the club win three league titles and four FA Cups.

The stopper, with over 40% clean sheet ratio in his career, had a 139 clean sheet record in 403 appearances for Arsenal qualifying him to be among the league’s safest custodians.

Seaman’s shot-stopping ability and leadership on the pitch made him a fan favourite and a true Gunners legend.

Number 6. Liam Brady

Liam Brady was one of a kind midfielder during his playing days in the English capital.

The Irishman was a left-footed attacking maestro who had all the technical aspects of a great player, including sensational vision, passing, game-reading and skills.

He played for Arsenal from 1973 to 1980, scoring 59 goals in 307 appearances. However much Brady won one FA Cup during his time with the Gunners, his technical ability and vision made him a joy to watch and a key component of Arsenal’s success in the 70s.

Number 5. Ian Wright

Ian Wright is the second-highest goal scorer in Arsenal’s history.

The English target man is remembered in September 1997 when he became the all-time leading goal scorer for the Gunner before Henry could break his record in 2005.

The former striker played for the Gunners from 1991 to 1998, scoring 185 goals in 288 appearances. Wright won two league titles and one FA Cup in north London.

His goal-thirsty character, personality, and work rate made him a never to forget legend at the club.

Number 4. Patrick Vieira

Patrick Vieira was the heartbeat of Arsenal’s midfield during the late 90s and early 2000s.

The Frenchman played for Arsenal from 1996 to 2005, winning three league titles and four FA Cups.

He captained the ‘Invincibles’ squad unbeaten run to the Premier League title in 2003/04.

Vieira’s physicality and leadership on and off the pitch made him a fan favourite. In his prime, he was one of the most feared midfielders in the world.

Number 3. Dennis Bergkamp

Resting third on our list of the best Arsenal players of all time is Dennis Bergkamp.

The Dutchman played for Arsenal from 1995 to 2006 as a striker, scoring 120 goals in 423 appearances.

Bergkamp won three league titles and four FA Cups during his time with the Gunners.

The finishing machine was a member of the 2003/04 Invincibles team who is remembered for his technical ability and vision that made him a joy to watch and a key component of Arsenal’s success in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Number 2. Tony Adams

Tony Adams takes the runner-up spot in our list of the best Arsenal players of all time.

Without a doubt, he is one greatest defender the North London red and white club  has ever had.

The English guard spent his entire career at Arsenal, spanning from 1983 to 2002.

Adams won four league titles, three FA Cups, and two League Cups as a Gunner.

His leadership and tenacity on the pitch made him a fan darling and a true legend at the club the Gunners have ever seen.

Number 1. Thierry Henry

The prime spot in this list of the best Arsenal players ever is definitely for french man  Thierry Henry.

The former French striker played for Arsenal from 1999 to 2007, scoring 228 goals in 376 appearances.

In October 2005, He broke Wright’s all-time goal scorer record for Arsenal when he netted twice against Sparta Prager in the UEFA champions league.

With a conversion rate of almost 61%, Henry won two Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and was named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year three times.

Henry’s combination of speed, skill, and finishing ability made him a nightmare for opposing defenders both in England and the European continent at large.
