A genius of artificial intelligence (AI) has left Google

A genius of artificial intelligence (AI) has left Google

In a message to the New York Times, 75-year-old British-Canadian Geoffrey Hinton announced his retirement from Google and expressed his remorse for his work at the time.

The foundation for modern AI systems like ChatGPT was laid by Dr. Hinton’s groundbreaking work on deep learning and neural networks.

However, cognitive psychologist and computer scientist Geoffrey Hinton told the BBC that the chatbot may soon surpass the amount of knowledge that a human brain can store.

He claimed that he is now free to talk openly about any potential threats dangers might be. And many of them were very frightening.

“At the moment, what we’re observing is that things like GPT-4 much surpass a person in terms of its broad understanding. It’s not as skilled at thinking, but it can already make simple decisions.

We anticipate things to improve quickly given the rate of improvement. Thus, we must be concerned about that. As far as I can tell, they are not now more intelligent than we are. But I believe they soon may be.” he told BBC

Dr. Hinton said that he had a number of additional reasons for leaving his position.

“One is that I’m 75. It is therefore time to retire. Another remarked, “I want to actually say some positive things about Google.” If I don’t work for Google, they are more trustworthy.
