Confirmed Kigali Pelé Stadium to host the match Rwanda vs Benin
The match between Rwanda and Benin has been confirmed to take place in Rwanda, but there will be a change in the stadium and no fans.
According to the news, this match will take place at Kigali Pele Stadium in Kigali.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) informed FERWAFA of this decision in a letter published on Thursday, March 24, 2023.
This letter was written on Thursday, referring to the decision made on March 21 to move the match between Rwanda and Benin to Cotonou, Benin, and stating that the decision was re-examined.
CAF announces that, after looking at other possibilities, a solution has been found to ensure that this match takes place in Rwanda as planned, “even if it is not possible to take place at the Huye Stadium.”
This association maintains that “the Kigali Pele Stadium does not meet the requirements to assist the players and others who attend.” This game will take place in this stadium, but without any fans .
Kigali Pele Stadium, which was recently officially opened by President Paul Kagame and World Football Association (FIFA) President Giani Infantino, will host this second leg match.
It is a stadium that was recently renovated in order to host international games, but it still has issues with its pillars that prevent fans from properly viewing the game.
CAF agrees in this letter that the match will be played at this stadium, stating that this issue is also the reason why there will be no fans in the stadium.
The game will be played without fans in the stadium next Tuesday, March 28th, 2023.
