DRC:Wagner Group and Légionnaires reportedly deployed in Goma

After developing ties with the FDLR terrorist organization, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (RDC) is still becoming worse. President Tshisekedi interacted with Russian and French mercenaries who spent five days in Goma.DRC:Wagner Group and Légionnaires reportedly deployed in Goma

Reliable sources confirm that on December 22, 100 Russian recruits from the Wagner group arrived in Goma and were employed by the RDC. These recruits were followed on December 23 by 103 French ex-Légionnaires who came from Bucharest, Romania, and were housed in a hotel called Mbiza.

In January 2023, 300 mercenaries are anticipated to have arrived in the DRC. The hotel where they are staying is well guarded by people in charge of keeping President Tshisekedi.

The RDC observers think that this new game of Tshisekedi is a constant indicator of the lack of desire to find a peaceful solution to the Eastern Congo problem.

According to Albert Rudatsimburwa, a keen observer of Great Lakes politics, “the Presidency of the RDC has hired Wagner’s operatives and accuses the United States, France, and other Western nations, such as Monusco, for failing to restore peace.”

“Now [Tshisekedi] is seeking to terminate the fight militarily, which is against the regional goals, especially when deploying troops to East Africa.”he said.

After Dr. Gilbert Kabanda, the country’s defense minister, visited Russia in August of this year, Wagner fighters entered the RDC. He was given a speech at that time that described the nature of the insecurity situation in the Eastern DRC.

Presidents Kagame, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Samia Suluhu Hassan, and William Ruto met with EAC Chairman President Evariste Ndayishimiye and ICGLR Chairman President João Lourenço on December 15 to discuss the execution of the Luanda and Nairobi resolutions on the issues in the eastern DRC (RDC).

President Tshisekedi was not present at this meeting, which took place in the United States of America, since he preferred to meet Joe Biden in the White House.

Analysts say that Tshisekedi was wrong because the main goal ‘was to withdraw from the regional plan to find peace in the East of the DRC, but to submit to the Russian and French mercenaries’.
