The East African Community forces in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have ordered M23 to withdraw its fighters from the districts of Rumangabo and Kishishe by January 5, 2023.

It was announced through a press release on December 31, 2022 led by the representative of the EAC forces in the RDC, Gen. Feff Nyagah.

M23 began to fall into these groups’ hands once it had departed the Kibumba region.

The cease-fire agreements agreed during meetings conducted in Luanda, Angola, and Nairobi, Kenya, have been requested to be observed by M23 and Congolese government forces.

Thousands of people without access to an education who fled their homes due to war and are now wandering about Goma and other parts of North Kivu have also contacted non-governmental groups for assistance.
