But United were level 11 minutes from time when Fernandes crashed home Casemiro’s throughball. The flag was initially raised for Rashford being in a clear offside position but the goal stood because he did not play the ball.
There was no doubt when Rashford converted a low cross from substitute Alejandro Garnacho three minutes later to put United on the brink of a famous victory.
