Emery Gatsinzi, better known by his stage name Riderman, is a Rwandan musician and rapper.
Gatsinzi was born in Burundi, Bujumbura in March 10th 1986 to father Etienne Rukwavu and mother Peruth Kantetere. He was the first of five children born into the devout Christian family.
His mother and sister were both gospel singers and Gatsinzi would commonly join them in singing gospel and praying before sleeping. He enjoyed music and poetry writing from an early age, and after attending a Lucky Dube concert at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali he was inspired to combine these talents to begin performing as a hip-hop artist.
Gatsinzi formed his first group, UTP, in 2006. Afterward he formed a band called Soldier with two other teenage boys, performing as the group’s lead singer before embarking on an independent career and releasing his first solo album on 28 December 2009
Diverse artists inspired Riderman’s style and musical taste.

They immediately released their debut song ‘va hasi’ which was in the form of crank and was an instant hit. They immediately followed it with ‘byina’ and ‘get it crunkin’ which followed the success of their debut hit single, thereby confirming the group’s tag as the kings of crank in the Rwandan music industry. By the end of 2007 the UTP soldiers had released 8 songs.

In November 2007, Riderman went on to release his first solo track ‘Turi muri party’ which was an instant hit, and showed Rwandans the enormous talent he possess in Kinyarwanda rap.

He did not stop at that; he went on immediately to release ‘igitende’ and ‘Rutenderi’ in early 2008. By that time, his music was selling like hot cakes. After a year of going solo, Riderman released his first album ‘Rutenderi’, which contains an amazing 16 songs, launching it at petit stade on November 29th.

The album, gained momentum as it had high sales, making it one of the highest sought for albums by a Rwandan musician.
