Rwanda’s airport in Bugesera captured in photographs during the construction phase,Construction of the new Kigali International Airport in Rwanda’s Bugesera district is progressing rapidly, despite a few delays caused by changes in the design to enhance its size and quality.
The ongoing construction activities mainly focus on key infrastructure elements, including runways, drainage systems, concrete works, earthwork platforms, aircraft parking facilities, connecting taxiways, and internal service roads.
Once completed, the airport will feature a main terminal building spanning 130,000 square meters, initially capable of accommodating 8 million passengers annually. Aviation Travel and Logistics (ATL), a government-owned holding company overseeing aviation-related operations, predicts that this number will exceed 14 million in the future.

Adjacent will be a cargo terminal capable of accommodating 150,000 tons of cargo annually.
The CEO of ATL, Jules Ndenga, pointed out that the new airport will position Rwanda as a vibrant African hub and boost the national and regional economies.
