Students of University of Rwanda (UR) to acquire new computers soon,After about four years of confusion, now the students of the University of Rwanda (UR) are going to receive computers that are different from the Positivo BGH they were already receiving,the benefit granted to them, they will get a two-year guarantee where they can return it if dies.
These machines will be provided to the individuals who have not yet gotten them since the 2019–2020 academic year.
According to the statement made by Dr. Kayihura Muganga Didas, Director General of UR, the application process to get these machines through the implementation of a new agreement—different from a school loan—will begin on June 26, 2023.
According to the statement, “The agreement will be signed on the MINUZA website. It is not required that you sign this document, particularly if you have access to a computer as a student.
They are machines that will be in four categories that include:
- The Lenovo Notebook with an Intel Core i3 processor with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD, which will cost 523,000 Frw.
- Lenovo Notebook i5 with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD which will cost 790 000 Frw.
- Lenovo i7 Notebooks with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD will be priced at 1,050,000 frw
- Lenovo i7 Notebooks with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD will cost 1.150 million Frw
According to UR, those who will be eligible to receive these computers will be notified through text messages, emails and other social media platforms.
These machines will be offered in a way that helps students learn through blended learning.
Computers that were first introduced to the University in the 2015/2016 academic year have been criticized for their limited capabilities.
