The 10 Most Anticipated Netflix Films and TV Series in 2023

New year, new streaming titles to add to your queue. Keep an eye out for these TV shows and movies set to hit Netflix this year, because they’re going to have everyone talking. The 10 Most Anticipated Netflix Films and TV Series in 2023

Ginny & Georgia (Season 2)

Everyone’s favourite mother-daughter duo is back—but not everything is peachy in the second season of Ginny & Georgia. After discovering the many criminal exploits (including murder) of her mother (Brianne Howey), Ginny (Antonia Gentry) is…having a hard time, to say the least. And that’s before she can even start thinking about boy drama and fallout with her best friends after Max (Sara Waisglass) discovered that her twin brother (Felix Mallard) and Ginny were hooking up.

Release date: January 5

You (Season 4)

After killing his wife Love (Victoria Pedretti), serial stalker-murderer Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is ready to reinvent himself in the fourth season of You. This time, Joe’s moved to London and is now known as a college professor named Jonathan Moore who has attracted a group of posh new friends. What could possibly go wrong?

Release date: February 9 (Part 1) and March 9 (Part 2)

Your Place or Mine

Can you hear those sirens going off? They’re alerting all romcom lovers that Reese Witherspoon is returning to the genre. In Your Place or Mine, she stars as Debbie, a routine-following mom in L.A. who swaps houses with her very different NYC-based BFF Peter (Ashton Kutcher) for a week. Even better? The movie is from director-writer-executive producer Aline Brosh McKenna (Devil Wears Prada, My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), and also stars Zoë Chao, Jesse Williams, Rachel Bloom and more.

Release date: February 10

The Mother

We love rom-com JLo. We also love take-no-nonsense action star JLo. The Mother finds the star channeling the latter persona. Lopez portrays an assassin who must come out of hiding to protect the daughter she gave up from dangerous men. We’d definitely want her in our corner.

Release date: May 2023

Bridgerton (Season 3) + Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

Okay, so maybe we’re cheating by combining two shows here, but we can’t help but think a certain gossip columnist would approve. The third season of regency-era romantic period drama Bridgerton will focus on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan)—a.k.a. Lady Whistledown—whose heart was broken after overhearing her long-time crush Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) say some not-so-kind words about her. Penelope becomes determined to move on, while Colin is left trying to re-earn her trust and friendship. And because there’s no such thing as too much Bridgerton, we can expect to see prequel series Queen Charlotte, which was created by Shonda Rhimes and tells the story of the young monarch (played by India Amarteifio) before she became the fierce and inimitable queen we’ve come to know in the series.

Release date: TBD

Heart of Stone

Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan and Alia Bhatt star in Heart of Stone, a spy thriller that looks to be taking action scenes to the next level. Not much else is known about the film at this point, other than the fact that Gadot stars as the titular Stone, a CIA agent with a very important mission. The movie “is going to be extremely epic,” Gadot says in a sneak peek video. “Rachel Stone lives off the adrenaline—she’s addicted to it.”

Release date: TBD

Shadow & Bone (Season 2)

Get ready to reenter the Grisha universe with the long-awaited second season of Shadow & Bone. After believing that General Kirigan (Ben Barnes), who also goes by the not-so-subtle name The Darkling, has been killed, Alina (Jessie Mei Li) will have to discover that he is, in fact, alive and still very much committed to his acts of evil. Awkward!

Release date: TBD

Maestro

If you have been waiting for Bradley Cooper’s directorial followup to A Star Is Born, we’ve got good news for you: The wait is almost over. Cooper directs, co-writes and stars in Maestro, a biopic about the life of master composer Leonard Bernstein, who is regarded as the first American conductor to earn international acclaim. Carey Mulligan, Jeremy Strong, Matt Bomer and Maya Hawke also star.

Irish Wish

If you loved Lindsay Lohan’s return to acting in holiday romcom Falling for Christmas, you’re in luck: the star will be back in another flick next year. Irish Wish follows Maddie (Lohan), a woman who makes a spontaneous wish for true love after the person she’s been harbouring feelings for gets engaged to someone else. Somehow, the wish comes true and Maddie wakes up as the bride-to-be—but what if she was wrong about who her soulmate really is?

Release date: TBD

The Killer

This awards season has barely just begun, but we wouldn’t be surprised if we see David Fincher’s next film, The Killer, in the conversation during next year’s festivities. Details are still being kept pretty under wraps, but we do know that the film is adapted from French writer Alexis Nolent’s graphic novels, it follows a brutal assassin who starts to develop a conscience and Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton star. We’ll be watching.
