Nurse arrested for allegedly raping a pregnant patient
Darius Orikiriza, a 38-year-old enrolled nurse attached to Mparo Health Center IV, has been detained at Rukiga Central police station for allegedly raping a 7 months pregnant 20-year-old woman, according to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police region spokesman.
The expectant mother who has gone for regular medical checkups at the medical dacility was allegedly tormented and irritated by what transpired inside the room where prenatal ultrasound tests for pregnant mothers are done.
She reported matter to the manager for help.
It’s alleged that on August 21st 2023, at about 1:00pm, the victim had gone for check up at Mparo Health Center IV and was referred to the scanning department which was being operated by the now suspect.
According to the statement issued by Maate, Up on arriving there, she was directed to remove her clothes and was accordingly forced into Canal knowledge.
The victim immediately informed the facility in charge who in turn also informed the police for further management
He said that a team of detectives were sent to the scene, and this included the district police commander and the officer-in charge of the criminal investigations department who ensured that Mr Orikiriza was immediately arrested.
The case has been registeres as Rape under file CRB 361/2023. Maate said that the further investigation is ongoing and when complete, the suspect will be produced in court.
