Ugandan attacker Joackin Ojera is set to extend his stay at Rayon Sports after agreeing a deal that will keep him at the club until June 2025.

The talented forward joined the Blues in January 2023 on a six-month loan deal from Ugandan Premier League side URA FC and had since hit top form, scoring three league goals and a couple of assists.

He also played an instrumental role as Rayon Sports won the 2023 Peace Cup, their first since 2016. His performance impressed the club management which could any time announce his signing after both sides agreed to make his loan deal permanent for a period of two years.

The transfer for which Ojera agreed to sign for the club remains undisclosed but Times Sport understands that the club made a good offer for the player to ward off interests form other clubs which were hunting his signature.

With Onana’s move to Simba now a done deal, Ojera is expected to carry Rayon in the 2023/24 season at both domestic and continental stages.

Meanwhile, the Blues are also said to be in talks with a Ukrainian coach who will take over from Francis Haringingo who is already considering his future elsewhere after his contract with the blues expired at the end of the 2022/23 season.

The club is also said to be working on a major rebuild ahead of next season with key transfers on pipeline.

Burundian duo Abedi Biramahire and Ismail Nshimirimana, former players Thierry Manzi and Olivier Niyonzima are among top players who are on the club’s radar this transfer window.
