Manchester United transfer news: Marcus Thuram to ‘take his time’ over decision

Manchester United transfer news: Marcus Thuram to ‘take his time’ over decision.

Manchester United transfer target Marcus Thuram plans to ‘take his time’ deciding his next move, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Romano told his Substack column that Thuram’s preference is to move to the Premier League.

The striker plays for Borussia Moenchengladbach, and he is out of contract at the end of the season.

SportBild reported last month that United were weighing up a cut-price transfer move in January, although currently no offers have been made.

As it stands, Thuram is on course to leave as a free agent at the end of the season, and the France international is keen on a move to England.

Romano reports: “The Premier League is a priority for Marcus Thuram, for sure. Inter Milan are interested. I’m told it’s too early to decide.

“Thuram will take his time because being a free agent in June means it’s a big opportunity for him.”

United are not the only side from England credited with interest, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa claimed to also be monitoring him along with United, say ESPN.

The forward has scored 10 goals and has three assists in 15 Bundesliga games this season, and also has three goals in cup games.

United need a striker now

If United really want him, the answer is to pay up now. The club need a striker to help immediately, and by summer, it could work out just as expensive.

Competition for his signature will mean high wages and a large signing-on fee is required, even on a ‘free’ transfer.

So it would make sense to commit to a small fee now, and sign Thuram to help this season, with the club in a strong position in the table and still in three cup competitions.
