Two teams in need of points in Group A will meet at the 2022 CHAN on Tuesday with Mozambique and Libya dueling in the early match. Libya have gotten their most difficult group stage opponent out of the way, losing to Algeria in the competition’s curtain raiser, and will like their chances of getting a favorable result against the Mambas. Mozambique did enough to secure a point in their scoreless draw against Ethiopia but need to find goals and a victory with a matchup against hosts Algeria wrapping up their Group A schedule.Mozambique vs Libya live match

Mozambique will have to make history in order to boost their chances of advancement as the Mambas have never won a match at the competition going back to their only other CHAN appearance in 2014. The squad is putting on a confident face with captain Telinho remarking that he and his teammates have an advantage because Libya is coming off a defeat, at the same time emphasizing that mistakes must be avoided in a match that could be decided by the slimmest of margins.

The 34-year-old Telinho, a capable winger, along with talented full back Danilo form the strength of Mozambique on the wings. Central midfielder Shaquille Nangy showed some of his quality in the 0-0 draw against Ethiopia and will need to be influential. Mozambique’s strike force lacked an edge until 33-year-old forward Isac Carvalho came on in the second half, suggesting the Costa do Sol player could be in the starting lineup.

Libya know they have the quality to earn the full three points and have a favorable history against their opponents with two wins, two draws and a defeat in their five meetings against the Mambas. Left back Mohammed El-Monir acknowledged that the situation forced the Mediterranean Knights to play defensively against hosts Algeria in their opening match defeat and El-Monir, naturally more comfortable moving forward, is among the players who will look to be more influential with his crossing ability and powerful shot.

Towering striker Anis Saltou was often isolated against the Algerian defense and the Al-Ittihad marksman could find more joy against the Mambas defense. Saltou will need more service from creative forces Abdulati Alabasi and club teammate Omar Al Khouja to thrive but Saltou’s hold up play can bring his teammates into the attack. Center back and captain Muad Al-Amami anchored the Libyan defensive line well against Algeria and it looks like Mozambique’s goal-scoring difficulties could continue unless they can find a spark.
